Future Farms Foundation is a registered charity dedicated to tackling climate change and strengthening UK food security by acquiring and protecting farmland, working with farmers committed to regenerative practices that restore soil health and biodiversity.
We remove farmland from speculative markets, offer affordable tenancies and practical support to regenerative farmers, and produce diverse, nutritious local crops from soils that sequester carbon in organic matter.
At Future Farms Foundation, we know that regenerated land holds the key to addressing the world’s biggest challenges. We reject the notion that farmland should be seen solely as a resource for industrial-scale agriculture or an investment commodity.
We recognise that many farmers lack the means to manage their land in line with their environmental convictions, often facing intense cost pressure and competition from abroad.
There is still a gap between the public’s desire to support sustainable farming and farmers’ ability to transition. Many people want to make choices that help the planet and the next generations, yet few have clear ways to directly support the farmers who share those values. To close this gap, Future Farms Foundation aims to be the vital connector our system needs : a citizen-led initiative stepping in where other actors are over-constrained.
Our ambition is twofold: to acquire farmland and permanently remove it from speculative markets, and to support farmers dedicated to regenerative agriculture, helping them to thrive.

Protecting farmland
To permanently safeguard farmland and ensure its long-term commitment to sustainable agriculture, Future Farms Foundation acquires farms and farmland.
This work is made possible through donations and legacies, and in the future, potentially through dedicated investment vehicles. Today, the charity is focused on raising funds and legacies to acquire its first farms, while exploring the most effective way to replicate successful European models and attract capital via FCA-approved charitable schemes.
Each potential acquisition undergoes a rigorous assessment and must be approved by our validation committee. Once land becomes part of the Future Farms Foundation network, our commitment goes far beyond ownership: we ensure it is cared for through regenerative practices and protected as the vital resource it is.
Supporting farmers
The Foundation champions sustainable and regenerative practices that enhance biodiversity, improve soil health, and reduce dependency on chemical inputs.
To achieve this, we partner with like-minded farmers who share these values. Through a selection process that focuses on a shared vision and a robust business plan, we offer long-term leases on preferential terms, enabling farmers to cultivate the land without the financial burden of ownership.
This approach supports both new and established farmers, and we particularly encourage newcomers to take the plunge. Beyond a traditional tenant–landlord relationship, we aim to build lasting, trust-based partnerships.
Meaningful actions
Future Farms Foundation cultivates strong ties between farmers and local communities. This connection encourages the consumption of local, seasonal food, raises awareness about sustainable farming, and strengthens community-based food systems.
This community-centric approach is also how we secure the funds needed to acquire land - through the power of donations, legacies, gifts and soon, investments.
We believe that putting the community at the heart of our model means encouraging everyone to contribute, whether through financial support or by giving their time. These contributions help build a future that is sustainable, equitable, and prosperous for both today’s farmers and future generations.
